Turn-up for the books as Treggy ‘B’ team beat their ‘A’ side

Tregonissey ‘B’ recorded their first win of the season by beating their ‘A’ team 3-2, who stay top despite the defeat.

Barrie McIntosh and Jason Simmons got the leaders their points but great victories for Justin Hooley (Ryan Bilson), Simon Garrington (Martin Knight) and Andrew Gooch (Jason Cocks) sealed the memorable win.

Leighton Varcoe and Paul Williams put Mevagissey ‘A’ 2-0 up at Bugle ‘A’. Gary Spencer and Jake Moore levelled things up leaving Paul Stutridge and James Popplewell to contest a tight final frame which Paul pinched to keep the Runabout Shield.

Bethel ‘A’ came away with a great 4-1 win over Mevagissey ‘D’ – a result which could of easily been reversed given the closeness of the frames. Mark Ashton got the home point with Andy Peers, Matt Green, Garry Stephens and Leon ‘The Hatman’ Collard victorious for the visitors.

Pelynt picked up a surprise 4-1 win at St Blazey to give them a great boost at the wrong end of the table. Len Flower and Dan Chivers put them 2-0 up only for Chris Morford to defeat the dangerous Phil Ormond but further wins for Richard Broad and Andy Parnell secured the win.

Mark Sturtridge put Bugle ‘B’ ahead at Mevagissey ‘B’ defeating Matt Chesterfield. The home side then reeled of three on the trot through Ben Rothwell, Matt Rowe and Nathan Shaw with Dave Rundle knocking in a majestic 35 break to get the second away point.

The top two in the Rees League locked horns and it was Mevagissey ‘C’ who came out on top 3-2 against Bethel ‘C’ with four frames decided on the black ball. Roger Smithson and Courtney Crockford took the home points with Joe and Matt Chesterfield along with Adrian Evans sealing the away win.

St Stephen took all three points at home to Lostwithiel to jump right up to third place and look a real threat to the top two. Brown, Garside, Harrison, Bowyer and Parminter their winners with many twist and turns expected at the top of the table in the coming weeks.

Gorran came away with a welcome win from Bugle ‘C’ – Luke Kennedy and Roy Bayliss took the home points with Lee McKinstry, Geoff Hayhurst and Steve Williams’ black-ball win over Nigel Couchman deciding the contest.

Gavin Dyche knocked in the highest break in the league this year. His 38 helped Bethel ‘D’ get two points against Bethel ‘B’. Gavin’s nephew Dayle earned their team’s second point with Richie Bolt, Clive Stuthridge and Jim Tamblyn’s black ball win over Dave Morshead sealing the ‘B’ team’s win.
