Tregonissey clinch the Victory League

Tregonissey ‘A’ clinched the Victory League title with a game to spare after beating close rivals Bugle ‘A’ 3-2.

Martin Knight’s respot win over Andrew Best was followed by a 56 clearance from Barrie McIntosh to see off Gary Spencer. Ryan Bilson put them three up beating Ian Ball but Bugle pulled the last two frames back through Jake Moore and Paul Sturtridge.

Second-placed Bethel ‘A’ picked up a 3-2 win at Bugle ‘B’ to sit four points above Bugle ‘A’ but having played a game more. Gary Stephens took out Mark Sturtridge in the opener which was followed with Matt Green’s win over Tony Conroy which included a 31 break. Dave and Colin Rundle levelled things up beating Geoff Hawken and Andy Peers respectively, but Leon Collard’s win over Keith Moore in the last gave Bethel the win.

Relegated St Stephen ‘A’ were 2-0 down at home to St Blazey ‘A’ after wins for Stewart Dewings and Mickey Meares but convincing wins for Anthony Garside and Dan Allen left Anthony Harrison’s black-ball win over Aiden Maxwell Craddock secured the win.

Mevagissey ‘B’ are deep in trouble after another disappointing display at Pelynt going down 4-1. Only Ben Rothwell’s victory over Will Courts gave them any rewards as the home side romped home through Jan Daniell, with a 27 clearance, Richard Broad, Phil Ormand and Andy Parnell.

The Rees League title would have been settled last night as Mevagissey ‘D’ and Tregonissey ‘B’ played their last games.

The Meva boys slipped to a 3-2 home defeat to Bethel ‘C’. Howard Brett saw off Rich Lakeman in the first win Roger Smithson winning the second frame despite George Lory’s 34 break. Mark Ashton pulled one back by beating Courtney Crockford only for Leigh Rosevear’s win over Ian Latham securing the away win leaving Rob Blamey’s victory over Ben Stunnell to give the Meva boys a one-point lead at the top.
Graham Hoskin’s win over Simon Garrington was Lerryn’s only success as Richard Opie, Phil, Mike and Justin Hooley were all winners as Treggy ‘B’ closed in on Meva waiting for any slip up from them.

Bethel ‘B’ remain third after a 4-1 home win over Gorran. Clive Stuthridge, Richard Bolt, Guy Buckle and Jim Tamblyn’s black ball win over Lee McKinstry got their points with Rob Bunney’s win over Martin Isted Gorran’s only success.

Dave Morshead and Andy Spearman put Bethel ‘D’ 2-0 up at home to Mevagissey ‘C’ who replied when Predator Tregale beat Lee Searle, Ross McMenemy restored Bethel’s two frame lead beating Joe Chesterfield leaving Matt Chesterfield victory over Jason Pascoe to get Meva’s other point.
