Meva’s 10th straight loss as Treggy close in on title

Tregonissey ‘A’ march on at the the top of the Victory League after a convincing 4-1 win over Mevagissey ‘B’ who slipped to second bottom after this their 10th consecutive defeat.

Jason Simmons knocked in a 31 break in the opener followed by Barrie McIntosh’s 44 in the second with Ryan Bilson and Jason Cocks putting them four up. Meva’s reply came from Dave Kendall who took out Martin Knight in the last frame.

Bethel ‘A’ remain second after a 4-1 win at St Stephen ‘A’ who are all but relegated. Wins for Paul Baron, Geoff Hawken and Matt Green put them three up only for Dan Allen to beat Andy Pears to pull one back with Dave Patton getting Bethel’s second point beating Anthony Harrison.

Bugle ‘A’ dropped two points to Pelynt and only victory at Treggy last night would keep the in the title hunt. Andy Parnell got Pelynt off to a great start beating Paul Sturtridge, Jake Moore levelled things up and with Andrew Best with 56 and Ian Ball’s 38 things looked good only for Phil Ormand to beat Gary Spencer for the second away point.

Bugle ‘B’ moved out of the relegation places despite a 3-2 defeat at St Blazey ‘A’. Colin Rundle beat Mark Craddock but Mickey Meares levelled by getting Mark Sturtridge. Tony Conroy got Bugle’s second point but Nick Kendall squeezed past Dave Rundle to level it up again with Stewart Dewings beating Keith Moore in the decider.

It was a good evening for non-playing leaders of the Rees League as their challengers dropped points.

Tregonissey ‘C’ got three points at Bethel ‘B’ through Simon Garrington, Mike Hooley and Richard Opie, who knocked in a fine 35 break. Bethel’s winners were Clive Stuthridge and Jim Tamblyn, who beat Justin and Phil Hooley respectively.

St Stephen ‘B’ won two black ball games at Bethel ‘C’, through Terry Nicholls and Darren Biggen with wins for the home side for Ben Stunnell, Howard Brett and Roger Smithson. Leaving them needing a very good result at Mevagissey to keep their promotion hopes alive.

Tregonissey ‘C’ got two welcome points at home to Mevagissey ‘C’ with Caz Stephens beating the Predator Tregale and Amanda Fle,ing getting the better of Joe Chesterfield. Meva’s points came from Charlie Prynn, Matt Chesterfield and Adrian Evans, David Davis put Lerryn one up at Gorran but the home side responded through Lee McKinstry and Rob Bunney only for Graham Hoskin’s defeating Andy Reddall to level up, leaving Terry Middleton’s victory over Paul Grimmett to settle the night.
