Great night for the Tregonissey boys

It was a great night for Tregonissey ‘A’ as they breezed into the team pairs final after slaughtering Bethel ‘A’ 4-1 and then saw two of their rivals for the Victory League title surprisingly beaten.

Bugle ‘A’ were involved in a four black ball games at St Neot. Steve Courts overcame Paul Sturtridge in the first with Jake Moore levelling when beating Cyril Dickenson. Anthony Maddams respot win over Ian Ball put the home side ahead but Gary Spencer saw off Chris Perring to agin level but Darren Lock convincingly beat Andrew Best to put a big lump in Bugle’s title aspirations.

Mevagissey ‘A’ slumped to a devastating 4-1 defeat at Bugle ‘B’ to all but end their challenge but have Bugle a real chance of surviving relegation. James Popplwell’s victory over Keith Moore was Meva’s only success as Paul Sturtridge, Tony Conroy, who knocked in a 30, and Dave and Colin Rundle saw that Meva came up short.

Mevagissey ‘B’ are right back in the relegation struggle after bottom side St Stephen ‘A’ hammered them 4-1. Only Ben Rothwell’s win over Adrian Bowyer saw them stay level with Bugle ‘B’ as Robert and dad Anthony Garside along with Anthony Harrison and Dan Allen got the basement boys a welcome win.

Pelynt recorded a good 3-2 home win over St Blazey ‘A’ with wins or Richard Broad, Len Flower and Phil Ormand with Mark Craddock and Mickey Meares replying.

It was a great night for Rees League leaders Mevagissey ‘D’ as they got all five points at Lerryn and saw there two nearest lose. George Lory, Mark Ashton, Rob Blamey, Ian Latham and Rich Lakeman are now surely eyeing up the title after keeping their great run going.

Bethel ‘C’ put a dent in Tregonissey ‘B’s hope. Treggy’s Justin Hooley and Ryan Thomas traded frames with Leigh Rosevear and Howard Brett which left Ben Stunnell’s fine victory over Phil Hooley in the decider, to settle the tie.

Bethel ‘B’s 3-2 defeat at Mevagissey ‘C’ looks like ending their title chance, They wer 2-1 up after Jim Tamblyn and Clive Stuthridge replied to Charlie Prynn’s opener but Matt Chesterfield and Predator Tregale put the night to bed to give the Meva boys a good win.

Gorran picked up two good points at Bethel ‘D’ with wins for Rob Bunney and Geoff Hayhurst with Jason Pascoe, Lee Searle and Andy Spearman replying.
