First win for the ladies of Tregonissey

First win for the ladies of Tregonissey

| On 12, Nov 2017

There is a familiar look at the top of the St Blazey and District Snooker Victory League as defending champions Tregonissey ‘A’ took the full five from newly promoted ‘B’ team.

Tregonissey ‘C’ are celebrating after their first win since entering the league last season with a 3-2 victory at Gorran Haven.

Stacey Hancock and Natalie Roscorla won on the black ball beating Paul Grimmett and Andy Reddall. Amanda Fleming took out Geoff Hayhurst to secure the win with Rob Bunney and Steve Williams replying.

The big match of the night saw Mevagissey ‘C’ beat Bethel ‘B’ by the odd frame. Matt Chesterfield and Ben Prynn put Meva 2-0 up but Jim Tamblyn and Clive Stuthridge levelled things up leaving Joe Chesto’s win over Martin Isted to claim the win.

St Stephen have jumped right up the league after taking all five points at Bugle ‘C’. Four really tight frames all went the way of the away side with Lee Bowyer, Anthony Garside, Dan Polmounter, Chris Broom and Rob Garside the winners.

Lerryn picked up two good points at Bethel ‘C’ through Graham Hoskin and Matt Woodward with Paul Thomas, Leigh Rosevear and Howard Brett replying.

Tregonissey ‘A’ remain top after getting the better of Bethel ‘A’ 3-2. Ryan Bilson and Jason Simmons put them 2-0 before Matt Green beat Martin Knight to pull one back. Barrie McIntosh had two 30-plus breaks when getting past Leon Collard leaving Geoff Hawken’s win over Jason Cocks to get the away side’s second point.

Bugle ‘A’ have joined Treggy at the top after beating Meva ‘D’ with all five frames but this really didn’t reflect the evening’s play as four of the frames were close affairs.

Mevagissey ‘A’ beat the luckless Treggy ‘C’ to jump up to third place. Wins for Williams, Chambers, Staley, Popplewell and Varcoe saw them home.

St Blazey also moved right up the table after taking all five at home to Mevagissey ‘B’ mostly by big frame scores. Mickey Meares, Stewart Dewings, Chris Morford, Liam Reynolds and Nick Kendall were the marksmen.

Bugle ‘B’ went two up at St Neot through Keith Moore and Mark Sturtridge but St Neot hit back with wins for Darren Lock (31 break), Steve Courts and Andrew Pearce (40 break) saw the home side claim victory.

The draw for the quarter-finals the team pairs have been made and is: Lostwithiel or Tregonissey ‘A’ v Bugle ‘B’, St Neot v Bugle ‘A’ or Pelynt, Mevagissey ‘A’ v Bethel ‘D’, Bethel ‘A’ v Bethel ‘C’ or Meva ‘B’.

The draw was made by Anthony Harrison from St Stephen and Keith Moore of Bugle.

Games will played on Tuesday, November 21.
