Clean sweep for Meva's 'B' boys

Clean sweep for Meva’s ‘B’ boys

| On 27, Mar 2018

Mevagissey ‘B’ got a massive full house against their ‘D’ team to really give them hope of not being relegated.

The result leaves their opponents needing two big results in their remaining games in their quest to survive.

Comprehensive wins for Nathan Shaw, Matt Rowe, Pete Chambers, who knocked in a fine 38 break and Mark Gregory, along with Ben Rothwell’s close victory over Rich Lakeman got them home.

Mevagissey ‘D’ only took one point at home to St Neot in a re-arranged game on Monday through George Lory. But those four points along with a good 3-2 home win over champions elect Tregonissey ‘A’ has lifted Steve Courts team to fourth place only one point behind Bethel ‘A’.

Andrew Pearce had two 40 breaks to beat Jason Simmons, followed by wins by the captain and Darren Lock, with Chris Stephenson and Ryan Bilson picking up the last two frames.

Due to sickness Mevagissey ‘A’ could only raise three people to play at Pelynt and it didn’t get any better for them with Len Flower defeating Paul Williams, Andy Parnell getting the better of Matt Mills and John Daniells blackball victory over Louise Witerburn with walkovers for Richard Broad and Phil Ormond.

After that game the Seniors final was played between Len and Phil. The first four frames were shared with Len making a 30 break in the second frame and he managed to win the last to take the title.

Bugle ‘B’ had a terrific 4-1 home win over Bethel ‘A’ whose only success came from Andy Peers. That result almost secures at least a runners-up spot for Bugle ‘A’ following their 3-2 win at St Blazey.

Nick Kendall beat Gary Spencer in the first frame with Jake Moore getting the better of Chris Morford to level things up. Ian Ball and then Andrew Best, who knocked in a fine 63 break, secured the win with Dean Willis getting the better of Paul Sturtridge for Blazey’s second point.

It is as you were at the top of the Rees League as both Mevagissey ‘C’ and Bethel ‘C’ got three points from their games. Steve Williams and Lee McKinstry took two good frames for Gorran at Meva with Joe and Matt Chesterfield along with ‘The Predator’ Tregale securing the win.

Bugle ‘C’ pushed the Bethel boys all the way with Mo Roscorla beating Paul Thomas and Roy Bayliss taking out Leigh Rosevear with Ben Stunnell, Howard Brett and Roger Smithson all enjoying wins.

Graham Hoskin, Charles McMiram (walkover) and John Hancock all won as Lerryn took out St Stephen 3-2 with father and son Anthony and Rob Garside replied for the Saints.

Alan Meades defeated Martin Isted for Tregonissey ‘C’s only point at home to Bethel ‘B’, who replied through Clive Stuthridge, Guy Buckle, Jim Tamblyn and Richard Bolt.
