Bugle end Bethel’s title hopes

Bugle ‘A’ got four home points with every frame being close to virtually put Bethel ‘A’ out of the title race.

Gary Spencer took blue and pink to end Andy Peers chances with Andrew Best recovering from being 42 points down to Geoff Hawken to clear the colours for a 27 to sneak it.

Jake Moore and Paul Sturtridge both just managed to win against Leon Collard and Garry Stephens, with Matt Green getting the away point, beating Ian Ball.

Mevagissey ‘A’ defeated their ‘D’ team 3-2 to stay fourth. Rich Lakeman and Mark Ashton got two welcome points as the ‘D’ team look to climb the table with Phil Staley, James Popplewell and Paul Williams winning for the ‘A’ side.

St Neot had a good 4-1 home win over Tregonissey ‘B’ with victories for Steve Courts, Darren Lock, Matt Vessey and Chris Perring. Andrew Gooch got the away point, defeating Anthony Maddams.

Mevagissey ‘B’ got two points at Pelynt as the battle at the bottom intensifies. Richard Broad and Dave Chivers, who knocked in a 30 break put the home side 2-0 up, with Mark Gregory and Matty Rowe levelling up with Phil Ormond beating Dave Kendall in the decider.

St Blazey put in a solid performance as they beat Bugle ‘B’ 4-1. Nick Kendall’s 40 and Chris Morford’s 31 got two frames under their belt along with wins for D Willis and Stewart Dewings with Colin Rundle taking the decider against Liam Reynolds.

Mevagissey ‘C’ took full advantage of Bethel ‘C’s night off to record a fine 5-0 win at home to Lerryn. Matt Chesterfield, Ben Prynn, Adrian Evans and ‘The Predator’ Tregale all had comfortable wins with John Hancock unlucky to lose out to Joe Chesterfield.

Bethel ‘D’ moved into third place after defeating Tregonissey ‘C’. Stacey Hancock beat Dayle Dyche and Carol Stephens pushed Jason Pascoe all the way but lost out with Dave Morshead, Gavin Dyche and Ross McMenemy securing the home win.

Bugle ‘C’ and Lostwithiel played on Thursday with a 3-2 home win. Darren Biggen got the away side off to a good start beating Phil Johns, but Bugle went 3-1 up thanks to Nigel Couchman, Damian Knight and Roy Bayliss with Craig Nicholls seeing off Kevin Spencer for the away team’s second point.
