Bugle back in title race after whitewash win

Bugle ‘A’ produced a great win at Meva ‘B’ with all five frames to hopefully reignite their title challenge with leaders Tregonissey ‘A’ dropping two points at Pelynt.

They did all they had to do to keep their season alive. Andy Best started the ball rolling followed by wins for Gary Spencer, Ian Ball, Ian Powell, on his first appearance of the season, and Paul Sturtridge completed the nap hand.

At Pelynt Andy Parnell took out Martin Knight to get the home side off the mark but Matt Woodward and Ryan Bilson responded. Barrie McIntosh hit a 32 break in the next but lost to Phil Ormand with Jason Cocks taking the loss for the visitors.

Second-placed Bethel ‘A’ toiled all night to record a 3-2 home win over St Blazey ‘A’. Nick Kendall slaughtered Geoff Hawken in the opener, followed by Liam Reynolds’ convincing win over Andy Peers. Garry Stephens responded with a fine 32 break to start the comeback with Matt Green levelling things after beating Mark Craddock leaving Leon Collard beating Mark’s son Aiden in the decider to claim the win.

Mevagissey ‘A’ travelled home from St Neot with a 3-2 win. Chris Kendall travelled from Plymouth to win his frame with Phil Staley and Paul Williams also victorious. Anthony Maddams and Darren Lock, who knocked in a 33 replied for the home side.

At the bottom Bugle ‘B’ really improved their chances of staying up by beating St Stephen ‘A’ 4-1. Tony Conroy, Dave Rundle, Mark Sturtridge who hit a fine 31 break and captain Keith Moore took their frames with Anthony Garside responding for the bottom side.

Darren Biggens’ 30 break helped him to beat George Lory to give St Stephen ‘B’ their only point at home to Mevagissey ‘D’ which keeps Meva right in the promotion frame Rich Lakeman, Phil Ashton, Scott Mills and Rob Blamey replied leaving them only a point behind leaders Tregonissey ‘B’.

Tregonissey remain top after defeating Gorran 4-1. Phil and Justin Hooley put them 2-0 up but Paul Grimmett beat Adam Tuck to peg them back only for Richard Opie and Mike Hooley to get the last two frames.

Bethel ‘B’ remain in third after going to Lerryn and coming home with a 4-1 victory. Charles McMiram took out Martin Isted to give the home side a good start but Bethel responded with wins for Jim Tamblyn, Guy Buckle, Clive Stuthridge and Rich Bolt.

Bethel ‘D’ fell behind at home to Tregonissey ‘C’ when Stacey Hancock beat Andy Spearman and could of gone further behind but for Dave Morshead’s black ball win over Michaela Edwards and Jason Pascoe coming from behind to pip Amanda Fleming with further victories for Ross McMenemy and Ryan Tonkin giving them a 4-1 win.
